Queenstown Tipi Hire Weddings & Events

Queenstown, New Zealand

Queenstown is like nowhere else on earth. Draped along the shores of Lake Wakatipu with the Remarkables rising behind it, it’s the kind of place that makes people want to get married, celebrate, and do something they’ll talk about forever. Which is exactly where we come in.

Hire a tipi or sailcloth marquee in Queenstown and you get all of that, the mountains, the lake, the drama, wrapped inside a warm, beautifully lit structure that your guests won’t stop talking about. We’ve been setting up across the Queenstown Lakes district since 2016.

Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony for 30 or a full-send celebration for 200, we know this town, we know the suppliers and venues, and we’ll help you pull it off in style.

A few of our favourite Queenstown spots

We’ve set up tipis and sailcloth marquees in some pretty spectacular places around Queenstown over the years, here’s a small taste of where we’ve called home.

Royal Burn Station One of our most loved venues for both weddings and corporate events. Mountain landscapes, wide open skies, and the kind of backdrop that makes photographers cry happy tears. A G&G tipi or sailcloth here is something else entirely.

Rees Valley Station Tucked behind Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakatipu, Rees Valley is about as cinematic as it gets — snow-capped mountains, glacial rivers  and zero phone reception so everyone’s actually present. Accessible by 4WD or helicopter. We love it here.

Paradise Trust Surrounded by ancient beech forest, the braided Dart River and mountains in every direction. If you’ve ever wanted your wedding to feel like you’ve genuinely stepped off the map, this is the one. We’ve delivered tipis here for weddings that guests are still talking about years later.

Sherwood Hotel Next-level food, impeccable service, and onsite accommodation for guests who want to make a weekend of it. Sherwood and our tipis are a natural match.

Private gardens & backyards G&G have been lucky enough to host tipis and sailcloth marquees into some seriously beautiful private properties all around Queenstown and the South Island. Some flat ground, decent vehicle access, and a view, which most Queenstown properties have, and we can make it work. We do no-obligation site visits, so if you’re not sure whether your spot stacks up, just ask.

These are just a handful of the places we’ve worked, if you’ve got somewhere else in mind, we’d love to hear about it.

Queenstown tipi weddings

Queenstown weddings are a different beast. Your guests may have flown in from around the world, they’ve got the mountains and the lake on the doorstep, and the whole thing needs to feel like it was worth the trip. A Nordic tipi or sailcloth marquee delivers that from the moment your guests arrive, before a single candle is lit or a flower is placed, the structure itself does the work.

We’ve been part of Queenstown weddings in every shape and size, intimate ceremonies for 30 in ancient beech forest, full-send celebrations for 200 on private station land, and everything in between. Micro weddings where every detail is dialled in. Festival-style weekenders where the dancing goes until the stars disappear. Whatever your version of the perfect Queenstown wedding looks like,  we’re always up for it.

Our tipis and sailcloth marquees work across every season too. Summer evenings that stretch on forever with the sides lifted and the mountains glowing. Autumn with the colours turning and the air getting crisp. Winter weddings with fire pits roaring inside while it snows outside, genuinely one of our favourite things to be part of. And if you love the idea of that dreamy translucent glow as the light changes through the day, our sailcloth is made for exactly that.

If you’re planning a Queenstown wedding and want a venue that feels as extraordinary as the location, let’s talk.

Corporate events in Queenstown

Queenstown attracts people who want an experience, not just an event. And when you’re competing with helicopter landings on glacial lakes, long lunches beside braided rivers or ancient beech forest, and gala dinners under the stars with the Remarkables as your backdrop, your venue needs to earn its place. Our tipis and sailcloth marquees bring the magic.

We’ve delivered corporate events across the full spectrum, from intimate incentive lunches for ten to gala dinners for hundreds, product launches, brand activations, team celebrations fro m all over the globe. The brief changes every time. The result doesn’t.

If you want your next event to feel genuinely different, the kind that people reference in conversations months later, we’d love to be part of it. We handle everything from floor planning and full setup through to pack-down or gather a bespoke local crew of suppliers to bring together something truly special.

Good to know before you book

When should I book? As soon as you can, genuinely. Queenstown summer weekends (December through March) fill up fast, sometimes 12 to 18 months out for Saturday dates. If you’ve got a date in mind, send us your wish list now and we’ll hold it while you sort the rest.

Do you travel to Queenstown from Wanaka? Absolutely, Queenstown is our second home. Travel costs apply and we’ll include a full breakdown in your info pack alongside pricing, so there are no surprises.

How much space do I need? It depends on whether you’re going with a tipi, sailcloth, or a combination of both, and how many guests you’re hosting. A single tipi works beautifully for up to 60 guests, while a four-tipi configuration comfortably fits 150 to 200. We’ll draw up a floor plan as part of your info pack, no commitment needed.

What’s included in the hire? Full setup and pack down by our crew, your chosen structure, interior lighting, flooring. Everything you need to add sparkle, fire pits, bars, rugs, lounge sets, is available through our hire range.

Ready to make it happen?
